Drawing

I'm enjoying my new hobby. Is become much easier to draw. I will be learning about shading and point of perception. I have found many youtube videos that are helping me improve. I have also been visiting the art classes we offer at the high school :)
Sharing time with my kids is the greatest gain from this hobby. My two sons and I, sit at the living room table and draw. The youngest one is learning how to draw shapes. We will continue perfecting our art.

Trying to keep up

Life can get very busy sometimes. There are weeks when I don't get to spend a lot of time with my kids due to work (job and university). My oldest son, Aaron, had been asking for us to have a fun day. Sunday (10/6/15) was the only day of the week that we got to spend the whole day together. We began by going out for breakfast. After breakfast, Aaron chose an activity for us to do. He asked for us to visit Color Me Mine. This was the second time that we visited Color Me Mind. The first time both boys painted a shark. On this visit they chose different items. We enjoyed our time together. Aaron and I talked about school and other stuff. He began middle school this year. There is more to talk about now, than when he was in elementary. The youngest, Max, was thrilled to play with paint. So, now it was Max's turn to choose an activity for us to do. He chose to go to Chuck E Cheese. We ended the day with dinner and a movie at home. At the end, Aaron thanked me for spending time with them. It made me happy to spend the day with my boys. I felt much better. No longer overwhelmed. So, now I can get back to my learning something. Drawing is very fun and relaxing. Aaron decided to also pick up drawing. Below you will see a picture of him with his sketchbook and his Donald Duck drawing. He told me that his drawing turned out better than mine :) He is very competitive. I love my boys.

Family Games

So, with a busy life, it becomes difficult to make time for fun activities. I often forget to play games with my kids and that it's ok to act silly some times. As a child I remember playing Loteria with my parents and siblings, it's like bingo, but with images. We would play it for hours. I played it with my kids this past Friday, and my 4-year-old enjoyed it, but my 12-year-old, not so much. However, once I included prices, the oldest began to enjoy the game.

So, a card with 16 images is selected by each person playing. As the images are called by someone, each person covers that image until someone gets 4 in a row (horizontal, vertical, or diagonal). Also, just like bingo, the players can play until a player covers their entire card, known as blackout.

It is fun to play :)

The other game that my oldest son likes to play is Hedbanz. He likes it because we can laugh as we act out the what is written on the card.

It's a time to act silly. Since my youngest child, has not learned how to read, I had him help me act out. It was fun seeing both of my kids enjoy themselves and act silly. We laughed so much.

I will play these games more often, to get us unplugged from our electronic devices and have more opportunities for human interaction. In other words bonding as a family.

More on Donald Duck

So I continue to perfect my drawings of Donald Duck. This time I used the following YouTube video that helped me draw a Donald Duck https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qQptVHn2jE0

The video lasts about 3 minutes, but it took me close to 40 minutes to finish the drawing :)

I am enjoying drawing. I think I will keep drawing as a hobby, which is what I have always wanted anyway :)
The bottom picture I drew today. I did not use any time of visuals. I think is time for me to buy a sketch pad and proper art utensils to continue my hobby. It helps me relax :)
I still have quite a bit to perfect, but I think I have had a great start. Now my older son wants me to try to draw Iron Man. Wish me good luck :)

Week One...

Well, I watched the YouTube videos. I was able to make a drawing :) It sort of looks like Donald Duck. I tried uploading a picture, but I was not successful. My next step will be to go to Michaels and  look for the book guides for drawing. I will continue trying to upload a picture. Once again thanks for the tips, they have been helpful. My son was very interested in buying the Stan Le books for drawing heroes :)

Learning How To Draw :)

I have a huge interest in learning how to draw. My first task will be to look for tutorials online on how to draw Donald Duck, is my son's (3 year-old) favorite Disney character. My son's birthday is in November, hopefully I can have the drawing done by then. Once I have gained more practice, I would like to make comic strips with my 12 year-old. He enjoys comics. Drawing can be my way of spending time with my boys. I will need to schedule time for this new hobby.
If you have any tips on where to look for tutorials, let me know. Which me luck :)
